Obituary for Dr. Peter Zimmermann

It is with deep sadness and grateful memories that we bid farewell to Dr. Peter Zimmermann, who passed away on November 18, 2025. He was one of the pioneers of German-language university neuropsychology and was intensively involved in researching the effects of neurological diseases on attention performance. He recognized early on the necessity and potential of computer-assisted neuropsychological diagnostics and, in cooperation with colleagues, developed a test battery for theory-based and hypothesis-driven diagnostics of various attention functions in patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders. Based on this early work, PSYTEST subsequently developed three variants of the test battery for attentional performance. His pioneering work and his constant actions, guided by outstanding professional expertise, made this development and the widespread use of computer-assisted tests of attentional performance possible. His name will remain closely associated with neuropsychological attention diagnostics in the future.
